WELCOME TO THE
EUROPEAN INTERMEDIATE FILAMENT MEETING<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intermediate Filaments (IFs) are essential components of the cytoskeleton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belonging to a family of > 70 genes, IFs sustain the structure of the cell, provide mechanoresistance to tissues and play specific organ-dependant functions. Thus, IFs are key players in various biological functions, including regulation of the dynamics of organelles and microtubules, gene expression, cell migration, tissue repair, metastatic progression, synaptic transmission, cell differentiation, signal transduction and inflammatory response. The importance of IFs is further revealed by the large number of human diseases (>80 pathologies) caused by direct mutations in the IF encoding genes and which target all tissues in the body. <\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European meeting on IFs is a key event in a field of constant evolution, in which cell biology meets structural biology, developmental biology, biophysics, organogenesis and physiology, with interests in various tissues and pathologies. With a diverse and rich signature, our network is built on reknown experts and young investigators, focusing on fundamental and\/or applied science.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Euro-IF 2025 event will present the latest discoveries on IFs, with topics extending from structure, mechanobiology to dynamics of IFs and exploring novel functions, physiology and pathophysiology during development and in adulthood, in health and diseases. The meeting will take place in Lyon (France), one of the most attractive metropoles in Europe, with a strong signature in biological science, architecture & gastronomy.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n
